A Learning Mentor's role is to provide a complimentary service to children, parents, teachers and other staff addressing the needs of people in our school community who require assistance in overcoming barriers either in learning or in family matters.
Our Learning Mentor Lorraine Martin-Speight works with children on a one to one basis or in small groups. Lorraine also works with families offering support and parenting advice such as behaviour strategies and parenting skills.
At St Austin's, our school community has a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of our children. This means that we have a Child Protection Policy and procedures in place.
Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child's welfare.
If you have any concerns regarding a pupil or member of staff, please report it to Mr Flood, our Designated Person for Child Protection or to Lorraine Martin Speight, our Deputy Designated Person for Child Protection. Members of the public can make anonymous referrals to Social Care Direct. They will deal with your concerns and can offer advice and support on what to do. The telephone number is 0345 8503 503.
Lorraine also runs a parents / carers coffee morning every Friday 9.00 - 10.30am in our Key Stage 2 Conference Room. (There is a small charge of 50p for this.)
Below are various links which may be useful to our families. If you wish to speak to Lorraine, please call into school.
