Admissions

 

St. Austin’s is a popular primary school, serving the parish of St Peter and Paul’s to the south of Wakefield and St Austin’s Church (Parish of St Martin de Porres) in the centre of Wakefield.

 If you are thinking of applying for a place for your child at our school you are most welcome to come and visit us to have a look around. Please contact the school office to arrange an appointment

Full guidance regarding the admission criteria for St. Austin’s can be found in our admissions policy. Wakefield Metropolitan District Council is responsible for coordinating the allocation of school places. If you wish to apply to St Austin's for a place for your child, please contact the School Admissions Department at Wakefield MDC to request an application form.  You will also need to complete a Supplementary Information Form which is available from the School Office. Appeals Timetable

If the Governors have not been able to meet your preference for a place at this school for Reception September 2018, you can appeal against the decision to an independent appeals panel.

You will need to put your appeal in writing and send this by 15th May 2018 to:

The Clerk to the Appeals Panel, Wakefield MDC, Room 52, County Hall, Wakefield WF1 2QW

Appeals submitted by this date will be heard within 40 school days.

Appeals submitted after this date will be heard within 40 school days from the date when the appeal is received by the Clerk to the Aided Appeals Panel; this may not be before the end of the academic year.

You will receive at least 10 school days notice of your appeal hearing.

You must ensure any additional evidence you wish to submit in support of your appeal is received by the Clerk to the Aided Appeals Panel at least four working days before your appeal.

In Year Appeals

The deadline for lodging an appeal against a decision for any other year group is 20 school days from the date of notification that the application for a school place was unsuccessful. Appeals will be heard within 30 school days of the appeal being received by the Clerk.

Following the hearing, decision letters will be sent within five school days of the hearing.

School days are term time only and do not include school holidays. If an appeal is submitted in the holidays the school days deadline will not start until the beginning of the next term e.g. an appeal received in July after schools have closed will not be heard until the new academic term, ‘school days’ will start from the beginning of September when the term starts.
